Alpaca bowls - no, not just a shitty pun - is practically a household name in the modern hookah smokers world. They're a brand that has made that name through consistency, quality, and artistry in their bowls. They're arguably some of the best bowls on the market, and with so many bowls to choose from, they have a bowl for everyone! Today we're going to be taking a look at my picks for the top three Alpaca bowls on the market - what they're good for, why I like them, and what makes them worth talking about. So, pack a bowl (or Alpaca a bowl, eh?), and read on to see which Alpaca bowl should be your next pickup.
#3 - The Apache Medium
The Apache bowl is one of Alpaca's best selling bowls, and for good reason. The Apache bowl features a modified funnel style bowl - instead of one large hole, the Apache has many smaller holes, making for a slightly more restricted pull (not by a ton though). The Apache medium is a perfect fit for the Provost HMD, and it's not a very deep bowl by any means. The bowls vary slightly, but they usually hold around 16g-18g of tobacco, making it a wonderful bowl for dark leaf tobaccos (but not limited to them). This bowl is perfect for anyone who's looking to add a little bit of restriction into their session, and still have a great session.
#2 - The Predator Bowl
Alpaca may not have invented the Predator bowl, but they make one of the best ones on the market right now, one that has absolutely blown up because of the sheer functionality of it. The Predator bowl is a funnel bowl, and it has a bridge over the spire that's slightly raised. This means that you'll never have any foil drag, making it perfect for foil users. However, it is going to be limited to foil, as the raised bridge means that you can't use a traditional HMD with it. However, you can opt instead for the Provost HMD, as this bowl will be another snug fit with that. The Predator is about the depth of the Apache bowl, holding anywhere from 17g-20g, depending on what you're packing. It's another bowl that's perfect for, but not limited to, dark leaf tobaccos. The Predator bowl is a bowl that's perfect for foil lovers, or anyone looking for another great bowl for the Provost.
#1 - The Goodfella V4
The Goodfella bowl is a collaboration with Alpaca and 5StarHookah, and the bowl has just entered its fourth iteration. The Goodfella V3 actually made my list for the top three workhorse bowls for 2017, and the V4 is a good contender for the top three workhorse bowls of 2018. The bowl is nice and shallow, making it easy to get a good cook of your shisha tobacco. The bowl is a bit wider, so it does take more tobacco than the No Name bowl does, but that's because the bowl is actually a perfect fit for traditional HMD's, like the Kaloud Lotus (or Lotus+). Something that makes this bowl such a recommended bowl for me is the pure versatility of this bowl. It can be packed with just about every tobacco on the market, and it will smoke exceptionally well. An HMD will fit it, but you aren't losing foil functionality with it either. It's easily Alpaca's best bowl to date, and still holds its spot in my heart in the top ten bowls of all time. The Goodfella bowl is perfect for anyone who's looking for another great, easy to use bowl, one that is versatile enough to be used with just about anything.
Alpaca makes some great bowls, there's no question in that - but which one is perfect for you? Do any of these bowls sound like they're up your alley? Any that you'll be picking up soon? What's your favorite Alpaca bowl? Let us know in those comments below! As always guys, thank you so much for reading, and happy smokes!
